Project Manager (12-month Contract, Toronto)

Project Management Office

Who we are:

Leo Berwick is an innovative mergers and acquisitions consulting firm. We are comprised of experienced advisors from global law and accounting firms that add value to transactions as trusted partners throughout the deal life cycle. At Leo Berwick, we hire the best and the brightest. Our teams deliver a dedicated and customized service to every client.

As a growth-stage company, we move quickly, work collaboratively, and value people who take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Our culture is grounded in high performance, continuous learning, and the shared ambition to build something exceptional, together.

About the role:

We are seeking a Project Manager (PM) to join our team on a 12‑month contract to lead execution across a portfolio of cross‑functional, operations‑led initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for translating strategic priorities into effective, on‑the‑ground delivery, ensuring work moves forward with clarity, momentum, and realistic timelines.

You will play a key role in increasing execution capacity across the organization by owning delivery mechanics while enabling functional leaders to act as sponsors and subject‑matter experts. This role is designed to drive predictable execution at scale, without introducing heavy governance or slowing decision‑making.

This is not a traditional governance PM role. It is a delivery‑enablement role focused on momentum, clarity, and predictability in a high velocity environment.

You’re the right fit for this role if you –

  • Thrive on driving execution and delivery, not just planning
  • See PMO as enablement, increasing capacity without adding bureaucracy

  • Prefer hands‑on, pragmatic work embedded in real initiatives

  • Influence without formal authority and surface risks with judgment

This Role Is Likely Not a Fit If You Prefer –

  • Governance‑heavy or reporting‑only PMO models

  • Centralized control or decision‑making authority

  • Managing through process layers or formal stage gates

While this is a remote-first role, occasional in-office attendance could be expected in our Toronto location.

    What You’ll Be Responsible For:

    Portfolio & Intake Leadership

    • Own intake, prioritization, sequencing, and capacity planning across initiatives

    • Orchestrate delivery across operations portfolios to avoid overload and false parallelism

    • Make execution trade‑offs explicit and manageable

     Delivery Ownership

    • Oversee end‑to‑end execution mechanics across complex, cross‑functional work
    • Ensure initiatives maintain momentum and do not stall or fragment

    • Actively manage delivery risks and dependencies

    Executive Visibility & Risk Escalation

    • Provide senior leaders with clear, honest visibility into progress and constraints
    • Escalate delivery risks early with options, not surprises

    • Drive radical transparency around what is feasible and what must be queued

    PMO Enablement

    • Ensure PMs are supported by Coordinators and not pulled into admin work

    • Maintain trust in the PMO through accuracy, clarity, and delivery results

    What you Bring:

    • 8–10+ years of experience in project, program, or delivery leadership roles
    • Proven success delivering complex, cross‑functional initiatives in scaling organizations

    • Strong capability in intake, prioritization, sequencing, and capacity planning

    • Demonstrated ability to maintain momentum across 4–6 concurrent initiatives

    • Sound judgment in surfacing risks, trade‑offs, and delivery constraints earlyComfortable operating in ambiguity with minimal process and high accountability

    • Clear, concise communicator able to simplify complexity for senior stakeholders

    • Confident providing executive‑level visibility and escalation without bureaucracy

    • Bias for realistic commitments and predictable delivery over over‑extension
